Understanding Rune Symbols
In order to understand the full depth of meaning to the Rune symbols, you must begin by understanding the relationship the ancient people that used them had with the world around them. It is not possible to give a complete and through reading by simply learning a list of each runes meaning. The caster must become involved with the ancient forces and allow the symbols to key off memories from deep within your brain to give the detailed reading your client deserves.
The people of northern Europe lived close to the land and depended on the natural world to provide everything they needed for survival, recreation and pleasure. Their world was dominated by the elemental forces of nature and this connection shows up in the Rune symbols.
Storms could bring life giving rain to the lands or lightening that destroyed whole forests. Berries and herbs could grow plump and ripe under the sun but that same sun could burn the berries if there was not enough rain.
Today if the crops are ruined in one part of the world, grocery buyers find a different location to buy them in. As consumers, we may see a higher cost because of it, but in ancient times a ruined crop, whether planted or wild grown could literally mean death from starvation and the rune symbols showed this connection to life.
Its no wonder that the rune symbols were woven into so many different aspect of life. A simple design worked into the building of a home could ensure the gods looked favorably upon the home occupants. A design worked into the fencing around a pen of animals could ensure an abundant reproductive cycle and therefore provide food for the coming seasons.
Each god represented a different element required for life and would be called upon whenever a specific element was needed to bring balance into their life. This is where rune magic began.
The Rune symbols allowed the user to make direct contact with the gods so they could learn of future calamities and perhaps make changes that would prevent these things from happening.
All of these elemental forces still flow through our lives today. Perhaps we see them somewhat differently because our world has grown from the few miles directly surrounding the land we live on to being able to get products from around the world, but these forces are still needed and allow us to tap into knowledge and understanding non-believers don't believe exists.
They are the same forces in affect during the ancient times when the Rune symbols were just being developed. They are the same forces that were in affect at the beginning of time and they are the same forces that were in affect at every point in history since the beginning of the world.
And they are the same forces available for you to use today.
