Science has proven that everything in the universe is composed of energy. The so called "psychic abilities" of psychometry, aura readings and all other forms of reading the energies of the universe, work by sensing the energies by an as yet unknown mechanism with in us. This exercise is designed to prove to your sub-conscious mind that expensive machines are not necessary to sense these energies. Your own body is capable if only you can retrain your mind to accept it.

For this psychic abilities exercise, you will need a set of dowsing rods. If you do not have access to a set, you can easily make a workable set buy cutting the hanger portion off a coat hanger and bending the remainder into a "L" shape with a small bottom end of the "L". The rods should be 10 to 15 inches long, with 5 to 6 inches on the bottom part of the "L".

You will also need an energy source that has a fairly regular flow pattern. The high tension power lines that carry the main line of electricity into an area work perfectly for this because the flow is temendous and therefore the lines give off a very high magnetic field.

If you do not have access to a power source of such tremendous power, look for other places where a lot of electricity is being used. It may be possible to find a regular power pole that has enough power moving through it to create a field large enough to be registered on the ground. Most microwave ovens produce enough of a magnetic field to be easily readable.

If you are having trouble finding "that perfect spot", don't worry about it, you can work the finding of the perfect spot into your exercise.

The reason you are looking for a steady power supply is because a steady supply also gives off a steady electrical field. If you are personally sensitive to these energies, you can literally feel it within your body or on your skin as you approach the electrical field.

For those whose psychic abilities are not sensitive enough to physically feel the energy, using the dowsing rods will show you exactly where the edge of the field is at (or at least the edge of where the rods sensitivity can pick up).

If you are one of the lucky ones whose psychic abilities can sense the energy with your own body, then using the dowsing rods will show you that different items attempting to sense energy, will determine the outer edge of the energy, based upon their unique sensitivity.

For instance, supposed you can feel the energy coming from your homes breaker box from 3 feet away. It is highly possible, the dowsing rods can sense the energy from further away.

Your goal for this psychic abilities exercise is to practice finding the outer edge of any energy fields you may have access to. The more you work with energy, the better able you are to sense it which only helps increases your psychic abilities.

For those that have never worked with dowsing rods, simply hold the shorter end of the rods, one in each hand. Hold them loosely so the rods can move as they wish to move. Mainly you hand is use to keep the rod reasonably perpendicular with the ground. Just make sure you do not strangle the rod or it will not be able to move.

Hold your hands with the rods in them, about chest height and as you move around the the area, set your mind on finding an energy source. Do not worry about specifying a type of energy source, for now, just learn to locate one and you will be fine.

As you move closer to the energy source, the rods will begin to move and will cross when you move into the range of it.
